Tech.Ed 2006, Boston, June 11-16

6 06 2006

I will be at the TechEd this year, in Boston. I will be attending the event, primarily, to assist Microsoft in the Windows Vista Application Compatibility labs (more on this later in this blog). TechEd 2006 will be at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.

Tech Ed 2006, Boston

TechEd is primarily for Developers and IT Professionals- it is a “premier all-in-one Microsoft event”. Get hands-on experience with current and upcoming products and services from Microsoft and their partners. You get to meet with top Microsoft and industry experts. For those who are not able to attend the event in person, more than 40 key presentations will be simulcast live from June 12-16. The presentations will be available as on-demand webcasts, during and after the event as well.

Windows Vista Application Compatibility Labs
As I mentioned earlier, the main reason why I am attending this event is because of Fujitsu’s participation in assisting Microsoft in the Vista Application Compatibility (AppCompat) labs. Given the large number of technical innovations and changes in the new Windows operating system, Microsoft saw a need to organize such Vista AppCompat labs.

AppCompat labs is where customers/partners can bring their applications to test for compatibility on the new Windows Vista operating system. I don’t recall Microsoft organizing such AppCompat labs in the past- so, you can imagine the urgency, for Microsoft, in educating Windows users in application compatibility! So, I’m very excited to represent Fujitsu in the Vista AppCompat labs.

Free Vista backpacks and a chance to win XBox 360!
At the Windows Vista Application Compatibility labs, Microsoft will be giving away Vista logo backpacks, holding a XBox360 raffle for the winner and also giving copies of the Windows Vista Jumpstart kit- all the application compatibility resources and material (tools, ppts, whitepapers, etc.) developers would need in a single DVD.

So, if you are attending TechEd, be sure to not miss out on this great chance to not only test your applications on Windows Vista, but also to win a XBox 360 (and not to mention all the free goodies)!

“More Input”?
Apart from participating in the AppCompat labs, I am planning to attend as many sessions as, humanly, possible. I look forward to learning more about the latest technological innovations- especially, RFID adoption with Microsoft Technology, WinFX, Longhorn Server and Collaboration technologies. TechEd provides abundant learning resources so I don’t foresee myself going- “Need more input!”

As always, I will be traveling with my Nikon N70 and Monfrotto tripod, so please stay tuned for pictures from this event!
